

Jim was a man whose presence could instantly brighten any room, possessing a blessed gift of energy and a knack for releasing stress in others. Known as a friend to all who knew him, his greatest love was for his family. He was a gifted wordsmith and a prolific songwriter, leaving behind a legacy of numerous songs written throughout his life.
A dedicated professional, Jim was a talented building designer and had worked for the Newport News Ship Building. Later, he applied his skills to the Chattanooga area, where he worked in the Heating and Air industry for 17 years. He was of the Methodist faith and previously attended Tyner United Methodist Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose Von Stein.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Becky Von Stein of Ooltewah, TN., his son, Jason Von Stein of Ooltewah, TN, his three siblings, Rose Cartwright of Clearwater, FL., Bill Von Stein of Virginia Beach, VA., Gigi Vita of Hampton, VA., and several cherished nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life service in Jim’s memory at a later date.
