Jamie Sue Riddell, 73, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 27, 2022, after a valiant and inspiring battle with liver disease. Jamie overcame numerous health battles throughout her journey on earth, but her passion for life and her adventurous spirit never wavered. Jamie was the ultimate “life of the party”, and she loved nothing more than celebrating each and every day to the fullest.
Jamie was born on September 2, 1948, in Louisville, KY to the late James Elmer Stinson and Lula “Lu” Earl Stinson. Jamie married her childhood sweetheart, Dennis Riddell, on September 3, 1966. Jamie and Dennis moved between Oklahoma, Florida, and Kentucky before settling in Chattanooga in 1982. Jamie spent her career in interior decorating, at one time owning Decorating Den and then owning Jamie Riddell Design Consultants. Her love of people and incredible artistic vision enabled her to help countless clients, family and friends create beautiful spaces in multiple states.
Jamie was preceded in death by her half-sister, Jackie (Ray) Hall.
Jamie is survived by her husband, Dennis Riddell, her son, Jason Riddell, and her daughter, Robin (Kerry) Nunley; her six grandchildren, Ashlee and Allison Riddell, Sierra (Kenny) Melton, Caleb, Isaac and Reagan Nunley, and her great-granddaughter, McKynzi Tisdale.
Jamie’s zest for life and her outgoing personality brought many devoted friends into her life. Everywhere she went, Jamie was always running into someone she knew, and even if she only met you once, you became one of her dear friends. Jamie could be found on pickle ball courts, golf courses, bocce ball courts and the dance floor. She enjoyed freshwater and saltwater boating and fishing, and she never turned down an opportunity for travel.
Two of Jamie’s closest friend groups were The Real Dills and her Women of Worship (WOW) sisters in Christ. As Jamie’s health declined, the ladies in these groups, poured their love out on Jamie and her family and this brought Jamie much happiness and peace.
Jamie was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that anyone could have ever asked for, and she will be missed beyond belief. Jamie had a relationship with her Heavenly Father, and we are all eager for the day when we know we will be reunited again.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 12 – 4 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN. 37421 and a Celebration of Life service will follow at 4 p.m. officiated by Pastor David Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to the Children’s Advocacy Center; The Emmy Haney House; or Volunteers in Medicine, Inc. (VIM) Chattanooga, TN at www.vim-chatt.org; and to also consider becoming an organ doner and one day giving the gift of life.
