Jerry Pascal Moore

Dr. Jerry Pascal Moore, 89, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on April 21,1937 to Dr. Odie Pascal Moore and Irene May Moore. Being the son of a Baptist Minister and parents who were both educators, Jerry travelled throughout Mississippi as a child and graduated from Newton County High School in 1954.

An exceptional student, Jerry earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Mississippi College and graduated at top of his class from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1961. After serving an internship in Miami, Florida, he completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1969.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He reached the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Medical Officer on the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War era. He was honorably discharged in 1969 and wore a US Navy hat with pride for the remainder of his life.

A longtime member of First Baptist of Tupelo, MS, Jerry was a devout Christian and active member and speaker for Gideons International. In addition, he worked extensively with Answers in Genesis including trips to Australia and other countries in support of the ministry. His medical career included work as an emergency room physician, private medical practice doctor and many years as a Clinical Pathologist primarily in the Jackson and Tupelo, Mississippi area. Gifted with a photographic memory and having conducted countless autopsies, Jerry could talk in detail about the wonders of the human body and how it functions. He often used this knowledge as a bridge to witness to others about Jesus, the majesty of creation, and the gift of eternal life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 51 years Maxine Dunn Moore who passed away in 2016. Affectionally known as “Gabby” by his grandchildren, he is survived by his three children, son Stacy Kyle Butler-Moore (Nylea); daughters, Jan Linette Moore Wardlaw (Van), and Shelley Louise Moore Strickland (Marshall); five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, September 18th, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel with Chaplain Steve Allert officiating.

He will later be laid to rest next to his wife at East Lawn Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS.
