John Verdis Barber Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Louise Barber; and brothers, David O. Barber and Calvin L. Woods.

John is survived by his son, John V. (Demetria) Barber, Jr; daughter, Yvonne Barber; brothers, Roy (Connie) Barber, Raymond Barber, Dewayne Barber and Howard Akins; sisters, Mildred Barber Johnson, Teresa Barber (Johnny) Arnold, Joyce Barber, Wanda Barber (Eric, Sr.) Jefferson, Doris Barber (Alvin, Sr) Bonner and Hattie Akins; grandkids, McKenzie Cunningham and Kaleb Cunningham; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Visitation for John will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Franklin-Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN, 37404.

Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Alvin Bonner, Sr. officiating.

Burial, with Military Honors, will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
