Karen Rebecca Mowery

She was a 1977 graduate of Tyner High School and a 1982 Graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.S. in Education. She was a former teacher at Grace Baptist Academy and was currently teaching at East Brainerd Elementary School.

She was a former member of Grace Baptist Church and was currently attending Brainerd Baptist Church. Karen’s love for the Lord was evident. She could commonly be seen in the early mornings reading her Bible. She was dedicated to her husband and children. Her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren and pouring her life into them.

Survivors include her high school sweetheart and husband of 36 years, Mark E. Mowery; her three daughters and sons-in-law Abbey and Gabe Johnson and their children, Sage, Ian, Caden, and Eli of Ooltewah; Katie and Chris Dockery and their children, Caleb, Luke, Emma Kate, and Baby Dockery of Chattanooga; Sara and Robert Hetrick and their children, Wallace and Charlie of Chattanooga; her parents, David & Carlin “Buddie” Usmiller of Chattanooga; her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Jerry Brown of Signal Mountain; and Trudy and Ben Neubert and their children, Lydia & Hannah of Harrison; and her mother and father-in-law, Robert & Helen Mowery of Cleveland.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 17, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel and Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Euler and Rev. Tony Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
