

Lorena Hill Morgan, 84, peacefully transitioned into eternal life on October 19, 2024, in Chattanooga, TN. She was born on April 24, 1940, in Ft. Valley, GA, to Rev. Willie G. Hill and Eva L. Robinson.
At a young age, Lorena moved with her family to Chattanooga, Tennessee. At just 12 years old, she began playing music for her father's church, Faith Temple Baptist Church, marking the start of her remarkable career as a beloved musician throughout the city. Lorena's talent and dedication led her to serve as a musician for numerous churches and choirs, including Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, the Chattanooga Mass Choir, and the Spiritual Crusaders, among many others.
In addition to her musical legacy, Lorena dedicated 36 years of service to the UT Agriculture Extension Service before retiring.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick L. Newsom; brother, Freddie Hill; sisters, Gwen Hill Stone, Vivian Hill, and Gina Hill Gresham.
She leaves to cherish her memory brother, Alvin L. Hill; daughters, Iva A. Newsom (Sheldon), Cynthia J. Taylor and Starlett V. (Sebastian) Zeno; son, Timothy D. (Angeline) Taylor; granddaughters, Timethia Taylor, Loren (Dewayne) Dural-Stickland and Charm Coley; grandsons, Trevor McDade Jr., Deljuan McDade, Ivan Newsom, Joey Strickland, Truston Ware (FL), Sebastian Lily (LA), Timothy Taylor Jr. (GA) and Bernard Stoudemire; bonus daughters, Telicia (CJ) Howell, Karen (Carlos) Thompson, Tametric Payne, Darleene (JW) Cole, Dana (Robert) Dozier, Marckita (Shaun) Wilkes, Ciera Reed, Modesty White, Janessaya Daylag, Gabriale Matthews, Juanita Wigfall, Alexis Hubbard, and Elaina Short; bonus son, Remike Smith, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks to devoted friends, Micheal Harvey (deceased), Stephanie Brown (deceased), Gloria Jean Pickens, Lois (Wilbur) Washington, Rebecca Anderson, Pat White, Pastor Otis Babbs, Minister Michael (Elaine) Malone, and Pastor Robert Allen. Special appreciation is extended to Karren and Javier Torres for their care and support of the caregivers and Patty and Dwight Goldman for their continued support.
A Visitation for Lorena will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
Another Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at White Oak United Methodist Church, 2232 Lyndon Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
Funeral Services will immediately follow at at 1:00 pm.
The Committal Service will be directly after the Funeral Service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, TN.
