Lynn was born and raised in Chattanooga and graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1963. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and was an avid Tennessee Vols fan. He served our country in the United States Army Reserve. Lynn retired from the Electric Power Board with more than 30 years of service. Lynn was a member of Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison, Tennessee. Lynn was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Damie Rice; brothers, Robert L. Rice, Donald W. Rice, and Earl Rice.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Sue Rice of 57 years; sons, Lynn Rice, Jr. (Marie) and Scott Rice (Dana). Grandchildren: Emma Green (Josiah), Ashley Higginbotham (David), Grant Rice (Becky), Lyndsey Rice, and Chloe Rice; and great grandchildren, Baker Green and Whitman Green, also many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and from 10 to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Pastor Jason King officiating. Burial will be held at Hamilton County Memorial Park following the service.
