Mardi, 56 years old, was born on June 10,1963 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and died of natural causes on December 9, 2019 at her residence in Ringgold, Georgia. Mardi was the daughter of and preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” A. Jernigan and Marguerite “Maggie” E. Jernigan. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Ron Boone and son-in-law Jerry A. Thompson II.
She is survived by her step-children Christopher Dwayne Boone, Angela Suzanne Boone-Thompson, grandchildren; Jerry “Trey” Allen Thompson III, Keagen Boone and Aubrey Boone, many close friends and of course her sweet puppy, Bentley, who was with her until the end.
Mardi attended elementary school at Lutheran School and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She attended college at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she studied Communications and Broadcast Journalism. Mardi was involved with many community projects, including the Miss America Organization through the Hamilton County Scholarship Association and Miss Tennessee, where she served as a contestant hostess, director and judge for the MAO system.
Mardi was well known to be one of the most kind, thoughtful and selfless people you could ever know. She was a cheerleader and supporter of everyone she knew. She was always the first to offer a kind word to others even when she was dealing with her own personal life and health issues.
