Marvin Vance Howard

He was born May 29, 1940, in Chattanooga to the late R.L and Ferol Dixie (Carver) Howard.

Rev. Howard was a longtime Pastor in the United Methodist Church, leading more than a dozen congregations across three states. In 1977, he was appointed as the Conference Evangelist for the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. Additionally, he had ministered on five continents.

He was an avid baseball fan and loved singing and listening to gospel music. He recorded a gospel solo record album, as well as two albums with his brothers as The Howard Brothers. His true passion was spreading the love of Jesus and the message of Salvation to everyone he could reach.

His brother, Roy Howard, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-four years, Joye M. Howard; son, Scott (Robin) Howard; daughters, Ferol Margretta Howard Moses and Joelle (Rodney) Harvill; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, J.N. Howard; sister, Joyce Stanbery; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Community Church, 3043 Pleasant Grove Church Rd., SW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 4:00 p.m.
