Mary Lu Henry, 98, died on June 6, 2026. Born on September 28, 1927, in Bedford County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Don and Anna Mason. She graduated from Wartrace High School and Middle Tennessee State University.
Mary Lu was a social worker for the State of Tennessee and later, worked many years as a teacher in Chattanooga. She brought steady purpose and loyalty to her job, as well as offering encouragement and growth to her students.
Mary Lu was a faithful member of Tyner Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles Henry; her daughter, Donna Lu Henry; and her brother, Robert Mason.
Survivors include her children, Dee Anna Brown, Charles Henry Jr. “Bud”, and Jody Henry-Stephens (Jeff); as well as 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12pm on Thursday, June 18, 2026 in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 12 pm in the chapel. The committal will take place at Chattanooga National cemetery.
The family would like to thank Kim from Hospice of Chattanooga, her caregivers, Brandy Lee, Grace Speck, Charnita Turney, and Kathy Moore for all their love and care through years. The family is also grateful to the staff of Martin Boyd Christian Home.
