Mrs. Hodges was a great Christian servant and a lovely pastor's wife.  She and her husband were great examples of faithfulness to the Lord's work.

Mrs. Hodges was my Sunday School teacher at Carey Baptist Church in Athens, AL about 60 years ago.  Both she and Bro. Hodges were faithful servants of God and will be missed by all who knew them.  Sherry Bedingfield Pirtle

My wife, Jeannie, and I live in Albany, Georgia and have two daughters, Ashley Bush who lives in Savannah, Georgia and Courtney Sheely, who lives in Valdosta, Georgia. Aunt Mary was always really sweet and kind to me.  She shared many things
that had happened throughout her life with me when I was researching our family history.  She loved my Mother and Daddy very much and shared stories about them  I will always be grateful for having her in my life.  She was a sweetheart til the end.  Love to all the family. Just found out today about Mrs. Hodges' homegoing.  My heart goes out to all of you.  We share in the sense of loss and are yet reassured by the certain knowledge that we'll be with her in the future.  She was a sweet, dear lady who has left an amazing legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Looking forward to the happy reunion we'll all have in heaven with our parents, Bro. Cheshire, and so many more.  My love and prayers to you all.

May God have a very special part of heaven for Mrs. Hodges and Pastor Hodges.  For what a godly influence they both were.  Sometimes you never see the precious memories and blessings God gives until you need  direction with your life.

I'm so sorry I could not make it to Mary's funeral, but I have been sick the last couple of days. I was really thiking about you and praying for you all.

I want to say to the family that I truly loved your mother and grandmother. When she and Bro. Hodges moved away, it was like losing part of our family since we had been so close for so long. Her and Bro. Walter's time in Columbus was some of mine and Bernard's best years serving the Lord together. We shared a special bond with them and we sure had a lot of good times together.

I remember one time that me and Bernard, Mary and Bro. Hodges, and Ricky all went to Gatlinburg on vacation and had a great time. We use to go fishing together and Bro. Hodges would ask Bernard to spit on his hook because he thought that was what helped  Bernard to catch fish ( I know the family understands what was special about Bernard's secret for catching fish). Tina use to come spend the night with us when she was a little girl and those were special times. Of course Mary and Bro. Hodges  used to get together with us every year at my sister Flora's house and cook chit'lins. Yeah we really had some good times together and I loved Mary like a sister.

I just want Carole Dean, Bobby, Doug, Ricky, and Tina to know that I love you, I still miss you, and I am praying for you now.

Mrs Hodges was a great lady. Sherry and I thank God for her ministry and the influence she had on our lives. Sherry has shared so many stories with me of the special bond there was between the Hodges and the Cheshire families. Precious memories that she and her mother treasure to this day. 

Although this is a sad time, we are encouraged that she has been reunited with Bro. Walter along with the knowledge that she is also probably reminiscing with Bro. Cheshire about their time in Columbus, Ga.

Her greatest testimony is the Godly children and grandchildren that she has left behind. We love you all and are praying for you.

Doug and Family, Doyle and I were sorry to hear about your mother. We know you will miss her greatly.

Mrs. Hodges was such a godly woman and had such an influence on those around her.  We have many precious memories of her when she and her husband ministered at Grace Baptist Church and they will both always be remembered fondly in years to come.

I thank GOD for the godly influence Mrs. Hodges was and continues to be in my life.  I will never forget the day she led me in the sinner's prayer at the altar of Grace Baptist Church as a 7 year old child - and HE has been with me ever since!  Her life is a testimony to the faithfulness and grace of GOD.   And the influence continues...just the other day I shared with someone a piece of practical child-rearing wisdom Mrs. Hodges had shared with me when our Christy was a toddler.  My prayers are with all of you in your sorrow.  You have suffered a tremendous loss.  But we don't sorrow for her!  Your loss truly is Heaven's gain.  What a great time the "Old Guard" from Grace must be having!

Mrs. Hodges will always have a special place in my memory as a wonderful Christian lady.  I've never heard anyone say anything negative about either her or Bro. Hodges.  They definitely lived what they preached. I look forward to a great reunion day with them and the many others who have gone on before, and I don't think it will be long.

When I learned last night about Mrs. Hodges' homegoing, I felt the same sense I did when Daddy, Mama, Bro. Hodges, Mr. Cheshire and many other beloved friends and relatives have gone to be with the Lord. That 'sense' is heaven became even sweeter at the moment of their passing from this life to eternal life! Our families "grew up" together, and I cherish all the wonderful memories created in our times of fellowship. God bless you all through this time of loss, and praise God we will be reunited in time!! I can only imagine the great reunion that took place in heaven Saturday evening.  I will never forget Mrs. Hodges' many kindnesses to me.  The legacy of the family she left behind is a huge testament to the life she lived, and the Lord she served.  May God bless you all with His peace that passeth all understanding.
