She was born in Cleveland, TN to the late William and Chassie Phillips. Her husband, Hubert Young and brothers, J.D., Bill and Dink Phillips preceded her in death.
Melva was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church. She worked at Kingwood Drug Store in the cosmetics department, later she went on to work as a receptionist for 30 years at St. Barnabas Nursing Home. Melva loved to spend time in her garden. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her son, Ken Young (Mary) and daughter, Karen Young Siefker (Les).
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 15th at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4016 Tennessee Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37410 with Dr. Bill Summers officiating.
