Melvin Lee Cunningham, age 76, of Chattanooga, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 10, 2018. Mr. Cunningham served our country in the United States Airforce through the Vietnam War and Korean conflict. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 36 years of service, an avid fisherman, a Tennessee Vols fan. He attended Mooneyham Church of God.
Mr. Cunningham was preceded in death by; daughter, LeaAnna Cunningham; parents, John Thomas & Anna Bess Simmons Cunningham; five siblings.
Those left to hold his memory dear is his wife of 51 years, Judith McCormick Cunningham; son, Sean (Amber) Cunningham; daughter, Bridget (Walter Keeton) Pendergrass; brothers, Clyde & Jim Cunningham; sister, Avis Austin; granddaughter, Angela Jade Cunningham; grandson, Lee Anthony Pendergrass.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, September 19 from 2-7 pm and Thursday from 11-1 at Advantage Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Doug Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors provided by Air National Guard and American Legion Post 95.
