Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Ruth Davis; father, Thomas Davis; and beloved grandparents, Macie and Sam Garrett.
He was a 1969 graduate of Riverside High School where he also met the love of his life, Jacqueline Diane Owens. He was a member of the football team, track & field team, Honor’s Society, and Letterman’s Club. Later he attended UTC’s engineering program.
Formerly employed at Hajoca, Ferguson Enterprises and then he retired from Miller Industries in Ooltewah, TN in 2016 due to disability.
Michael loved hunting and cheering on his beloved Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team. His biggest regret in recent years was not being able to go fishing or reading his books. He loved cooking and barbecuing on the grill and watching people enjoy his food. He loved his children and grandchildren passionately. He always supported his kids and their friends in going to school or getting training to take better care of themselves.
While attending St. James Missionary Baptist Church, he learned to depend on God at an early age.
Michael never hesitated to lead in prayer. One of the things that brought him peace and comfort was having the bible read to him.
You had no doubt where you stood with him. He believed in being prepared for whatever the future holds. Michael never hesitated to give his opinion or advice. He enjoyed talking about current events, history, anthropology and religion.
Michael is survived by and missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Jacqueline; his children, Brian, Talene, and Geoffrey; his siblings, Timothy Davis and Stephanie Davis. Forever cherished and remembered by his five grandchildren, Tre’, Jay’la, Jaylon, Jamal, and Samuel; and three great-grand children Brooklyn, Phoenix, Giovanni and their families. He also leaves a host of other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Thanks to Enhabit Home Health, Memorial Home Health, Dr Chamberlain, Dr Drinion, Dr Reisman, Dr LeSar, Dr Dixon, and Dr Thiel for all of their personal care and support these last few years and for always treating us like family.
