Nina K. Allen

Nina was a Chattanooga native born to Walter Benson and Katy Russell Kelley. She attended East Ridge High School and then Tennessee Tech University. She later received her master’s from UTC and her Education Specialist from Lincoln Memorial University. Nina was a life-long educator and librarian for over 30 years. Through her passion for reading, she became well known for her storytelling. She loved to have weekly luncheons with her girlfriends, entertain, cook and play bridge. Nina attended Christ United Methodist Church.

One of her greatest joys was being Mimi to her 5 grandchildren and 9 step-grandchildren. She was loved dearly by many family and life-long friends. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter B. Kelley and Katy R. Kelley and sister, Linda Wilhoite.

Survivors include her loving husband, Michael R. Allen; her sons, Jimmy Goss (Katie) and their children, Will, Sophie and Bo, Alex Goss (Alyssa) and their children, Mason and Ava; stepchildren, Becca Williams, John Allen, Andrew Allen and Will Allen; 9 step-grandchildren; brother-in-law, David Wilhoite Sr.; several nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3pm on Sunday, August 25, 2024 in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 3pm with Rev. Mike Goodner officiating.
