Norma Jean Freeman, age 68, of Chattanooga went home to be with her Lord October 7, 2021.

She was born June 30, 1953 in Chattanooga to the late Raymond & Mary Francis O’Rear.

Norma attended First Baptist Church in Cleveland. She was a 1971 graduate of Tyner High School.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Carney Freeman, Jr.; her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and cousins.

Norma will be greatly missed by her family and friends who knew her well. She was well known for her love of cooking. She loved sitting pool-side with her beloved Tank her English Bulldog. One of her favorite times with family was the holiday get-togethers. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the East Brainerd chapel with Rev. Karey Humphries officiating.

Interment will follow at Parkers Gap Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Ellen Locher Breast Center of Excellence at CHI Memorial Hospital, 605 Glenwood Dr., Suite 100, Chattanooga, TN 37404. (www.memorial.org)

I have so many good memories of Norma and Carney during our Pine Ridge days. I know she's is having a good time in heaven right now and that Francis is giving her a big welcome hug. She will be greatly missed by those left behind. Prayers going out to all the family.

So many laughs card games cook outs. Vacations together. I have been partof this family since Edna and a I were in the first grade. I regret I am living in Florida and can't be there with all of you. Having lost my husband August 14th I am walking the journey with youi. I send my love and prayers to each and everyone of you.

I lived down the street from the family growing up. I remember her family having standard poodles and baby siting for them. IAfter moving back to Tennessee I ran into her dad and talked to him frequently before his death. My condolences to her husband and family.
