Obituary of Olivia Gillespie Graham
Olivia Gillespie Graham, 94 of Ooltewah, Tennessee formerly of Roanoke and Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey George Gillespie and Barbara Hurt Gillespie, her husband Albert James Graham Jr. and her brother Harvey George Gillespie, Jr. and his wife Gertrude Croft Gillespie. Olivia was a native of Pounding Mill, Virginia and a graduate of the College of William and Mary. She subsequently trained at Northwestern University and became a laboratory technician after which she worked at Jefferson Hospital in Roanoke until she married. Olivia was a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke where she was an active volunteer. She was an avid duplicate bridge player earning the status of Life Master and an enthusiastic golfer at Hunting Hills Country Club in Roanoke. Olivia also enjoyed annual summer visits to the Outer Banks, North Carolina with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children Albert James Graham III and his wife Cherryl of Berwyn, Pennsylvania and their children Tristan, Rachael, and Sara; Robert Gillespie Graham of Tampa, Florida and his children Robert, Christopher, and Riley; and Patricia Graham Hartje and her husband Robert of Chattanooga, Tennessee and their children Mathew and Rebecca. Olivia also is survived by five great grandchildren. Olivia’s family would like to thank her devoted caregivers Christy and Gloria. Services will be on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 2 PM at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Virginia where family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service. There will be a reception afterwards.
