

Oscar was born on June 14, 1949 in Dayton, Tennessee to Luther and Hazel Ray. Oscar served in the Army after being drafted in 1969. He was a very loving man who cherished his wife, Sally, of 58 years. He worked most of his life at Suburban as a truck driver for 54 years before retiring in 2020. He was a devoted member of Spivey Volunteer Fire Department 760 where he served as a fireman and chief for over 8 years. He was also a member of Graysville Church of God. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and going to church.
Oscar is survived by his wife Vonda (Sally) Ray; his siblings, Paul (Judy) Hartbarger, Linda Wolfe and Martha (Jimmy) Hickman; his children Mike (Tammy) Ray and James (Michelle) Ray; his grandchildren, Tabitha (Tyler) Clark, Cory Miles, Bryce Travis, Presley (Damien) Taylor, Lillie Kate (Gavin) Jones, Madalynn Ray, Hagen Ray, Marissa Ray, Owen Ray, and Jackson Ray; his great-grandchildren, Adleigh, Jensen, Hollis Clark, Anslee and Casen Miles, Kingston and Truett Taylor, Wiley and Georgia Drew Jones; good friend Eugene Ray. He also left behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Luther Ray, his grandparents Amos and Eliza Ray, Tom and Carrie Caraway, his sister Marsha Atha, his niece Billie Joan Brady Robertson, his nephew Aaron Lee Trusley, in-laws Elsie and Fred Walker, mother in law Mattie Janice King, and brother in law James Eugene Walker.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24th at Graysville Church Of God, from 12:00p.m to 3:00 p.m with the service being held at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at the Garrison Cemetery.
