

Obituary
Pastor Gilbert Aikens was born July 8, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the 7th of 8 children born to Reverend James and WillieMae Aikens. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 6 and was baptized; Living his entire life for the Lord and in his service.
He was educated in the Baltimore Public School System and also matriculated from Private Christian Baltimore Junior Academy. Upon his completed education, he began his career at a Test Director at Litton Industries. He led a crew that tested flight data for US Military airplanes in the United States Army Reserve.
Gil relocated to Chattanooga, TN after living 9 years in Florida. In 2008, he met and married the love of his life, Jacquelyn Aikens. Together they shared a life of love and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend James and WillieMae Aikens and siblings, William Aikens, Ernestine Aikens – Fair, David Aikens, and Rev James Roland Aikens. Son, DeShawn Aikens and son-in-law, Antonio Hines.
He leaves to cherish his memory, His loving wife of 18 years, Jacquelyn Aikens. Daughter, Nicole Aikens of Baltimore, MD. Bonus Daughters, Asia Ellison and Shondra Hines both of Chattanooga, TN. Siblings, Barbara Randall (Alexander), Wilhelmina Woods, Sharon Anne Woods all of Baltimore, MD. Granddaughters, Raquel Tyler and Ashonte Aikens of Baltimore, MD Grandsons, Dae’ Shaun Lee of Chattanooga, TN and Marvin Jones of Houston, TX. Devoted cousin, Elder Ronald Tyree. And a host of other relatives, friends and his church family.
Visitation will be held at the New Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. 1001 N. Moore Road Chattanooga, TN. 37411
Thursday 6-11-2026 from 10am until 1pm Funeral Service will follow at 1PM. Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery.
