Paul Lee Scantlin was born on February 21, 1970, and passed away on December 30, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother, Katie Louise Dagley, stepfather Tommy Frank Dagley and his father Charles Scantlin.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda Joyce Scantlin, his sisters Tammy Sue Zirk (spouse Ronald C. Zirk), and Tonia Louise Smith (spouse Michael W. Smith), 5 Nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews, 3 stepdaughters, 1 stepson and 2 step grandbabies.
Growing up Paul was a very strong-willed and stubborn child. He had a strong determination in everything he did and carried those same characteristics into adulthood.Paul considered himself the “Black Sheep” of the family even though his family disagreed with his viewpoint. But for all of his tough guy act, Paul was tenderhearted and would help anyone who needed help. He was always willing to go out of his way for someone in need.
After a back injury, Paul went on disability and as someone who couldn’t sit still for long, he started “mechanicing” on anything he could find. He was good at fixing vehicles and pretty much anything that had an engine. This ended up turning into his hobby and later grew into side jobs helping others.
Paul loved watching MMA fighting on television. But the MMA fights didn’t compare to how much he loved watching his Dallas Cowboys football team. Paul and his family spent a lot of time in Texas while growing up, so it was a family pastime to gather for all the games.
Paul never had children of his own, but he had many that looked at him as a father figure and called him dad. He stepped in and loved them as his own, giving each of them a piece of his heart.
One of Paul’s favorite things to do was spend time with his two step grandbabies he was helping raise. One of the highlights for him was taking them to the park and watching them play. Those babies loved spending time with their Pawpaw.
He loved taking long walks downtown with his wife, he loved watching fireworks, he loved cooking because he loved to eat and just enjoy life.
The biggest consolation that his family has is knowing Paul recently accepted Christ as his Savior and they will get to see him again someday.
Paul was loved by many and will be missed every day.
A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held Saturday, January 4th at 2pm at White Oak Baptist Church.
