

Phillip Glenn Samples, 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 14, 2013. He was born on March 24, 1947 to Alice Samples, and the late Sam Samples, Jr. He was a 1969 graduate of Auburn University and proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973, including a tour in Vietnam. He was a charter member and an ordained deacon at Westview Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and was a true example of Christ’s love. He was a genuine family man who loved his wife, two children, and six grandchildren more than anything else. He loved watching Auburn football and his grandchildren play sports.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of forty-four years, Sandra Ware Samples of Chattanooga; daughter, Dana (Gordon) Katz of Columbus, OH; son, Jay (Kelly) Samples of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Reid and Taylor Katz (Columbus, OH) and Brady, Mollie, Brock and Colby Samples (Chickamauga); mother, Alice Samples of Stevenson, AL; brother, David (Sally) Samples of Rome, GA; nephew, Brian Samples, and niece Beth Phillips.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Chattanooga Funeral Home –East Brainerd Chapel, 8214 East Brainerd Road.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Chattanooga Funeral Home – East Brainerd Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
