January 23, 2021. He was born September 23, 1931 in Canton, Ohio to the late Stephen
Lawrence and Marie E. Patrick.
On January 23, 2021, he was embraced by the arms of his loving Savior, whom he served all his
life. While Richard was in Seminary, he met his future wife, the late Ruby Nell Patrick, in a
Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church in Fort Worth. They were married December 21,
1952. After graduation, they moved to Youngstown, Ohio and founded the Bible Baptist
Temple. Upon retiring in 2007, they moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee to spend the last 13
years with some of their children. They were members of Grace Baptist Church.
His sons-in-law, Jon Carter and Ron Thomas, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children Pamela Carter, Carolyn (Dan) Barry, David (Donna) Patrick,
Sharon (Jared) Vickers and Jean (Chris) McCarthy. He has 19 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held on January 30, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the East Brainerd
Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 8214 East Brainerd Road, with Pastor David Patrick
officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
