

He was born April 5, 1931 in Tallapoosa, Georgia to the late Forrest and Virginia Johnson.
He was a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Navy.
Mr. Johnson was a current member of Oakwood Baptist Church of Chattanooga and was formerly a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and Spring Creek Road Baptist Church.
He was a longtime business machine repairman for Smith-Corona-Marchant and a sales agent for Woodmen of the World.
His wife of 63 years, Rossie Belle Johnson, and sisters, Geraldine Hilburn, Patricia Hooper and Nancy Womble preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Ruth Ann) Johnson and Tammy Headden both of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Headden of Flomaton, AL, Justin (Lauren) Headden, of Chattanooga, TN, and Jacob (Tiffany) Johnson of Chattanooga, TN; several great-grandchildren; brother, David Johnson of Cedartown, GA; and sister, Joyce (Roy) Smith of Pensacola, FL.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 2-4 PM at the Funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM in the East Brainerd Chapel with Rev. Grady Dishroon officiating.
Interment will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30 PM with Navy Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37416.
