Roy George Jones

Roy was one of seven children born Wednesday June 26, 1957, to Thelma Hampton Jones and Roy Harrell in Chattanooga, Tennessee, At the age of 68, Roy’s permanent address changed on Tuesday morning October 14, 2025, with brother William at bedside.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, older brother James Emmit Jones, maternal grandparents, Granville ‘Pulg” Hampton and Minnie Mae Hampton, aunts Irene Hampton Burt, Myrtle Hampton and Mattie Ricks Adams.

Roy grew up at 1154 East Main Street in the household of beloved Aunt Rene and Uncle Sun. Roy was baptized at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at early age. Roy was a helper in the community, avid cyclist bike rider and enjoyed various music and dancing.

Roy’s school days began at William J. Davenport Elementary School, Eastside Junior High and Kirkman High School Class of 1977.

Surviving Siblings; Jimmy Jones Sr. (Mary Ann) of Ellenwood Georgia, Tressy D. Jones (Anita) of Chicago, Illinois, Carolyn Jones of Nashville, Tennessee, William Howard Jones and Mary A. Jones of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Special cousins Rhonda ‘Faye Bradley and Curtis ‘Bubba Sledge, other family members and friends.
