Steve Waymond Hughes

He loved Jesus, his family, and friends. Steve was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He has to attend online during his illness. He also watched his son-in-love, Pastor Tommy Messer preach and his daughter, Leslie Messer serve on the praise and worship team on YouTube. Steve grew up in Tunnel Hill, Georgia and was a graduate of Ringgold High School. He worked in management at Cavalier Corp., Shaw Carpet, and later Shaws Fleet Services as a diesel engine mechanic and shift supervisor for 38 years. Steve was admired for his down-home attitude that made one feel at home.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Frances Hughes and sister, Mary Ellen.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Hughes; two daughters, Leslie Messer and Shannon Brown; grandgirl, Hannah Messer; brother, Billy (Glenda) Hughes; nephew, Chuck; and niece, Cindi Overby.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at his home church, Nellie Head Memorial Baptist Church.
