

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Hawkinsville Baptist Church at 11a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon.

Sylvester Wright was born August 27, 1933 to the late Robert and Ethel Wright of Twiggs Country, Georgia.
On September 27, 2019 he gained his wings to be with the Lord.
Affectionately known as “Ray” he was a faithful member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church.
“Ray” was a dedicated employee at Vulcan Iron Works. He was employed there for 35+ years after moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He will fondly be remembered by the neighborhood kids as “Mr. Wright” the man from the drag strip” and his love for racing. He also was involved with a street ministry that he loved being of service to others. Sandra Freeman, Grady Carter and Charles Freeman shared with him in this. He was also a member of the Brainerd Manor Neighborhood Association.
“Ray” was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Wright; brothers Melvin Wright and Robert Wright, III; sisters Margaret Tatman and Thelma Maxwell; son Nathaniel Wright.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters Beverly (Charles) Sanders, Chattanooga, TN; Sylvia Wade, Kingsport, TN; Gail (James) Landers, Birmingham, AL; Valerie McConnell, Las Vegas, NV; sons Myron Dewayne Wright, Murfreesboro, TN; Larry (Pamela) Wright, Jacksonville, FL; Donald Smith, California, brothers Truman (Susie) Wright and Larry (Barbara) Wright, Atlanta, GA; sisters Truwell Brantley, Miami, FL; Murdell Sands, Macon, GA; Doris Fletcher, Colorado Springs, CO; Vivian Burns, Millageville, GA and Barbara (Larry) Wright, Atlanta, GA. Thirteen (13) grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; three (3) great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mr. Wright will lie-in-state Friday from1p.m.-6p.m. at Advantage ill follow at Highland Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
