Thomas “Tommy” Moody May, of Chattanooga, TN passed peacefully into the hands of his maker on July 29, 2019. He was at home surrounded by his family.

Tommy was known for many things but perhaps most importantly was his love of Christ, his wife Peg, and his family. He was a faithful servant of East Ridge Presbyterian Church, then Covenant Presbyterian Church his entire adult life. Tommy was diligent in prayer, generous in spirit, and kind in disposition. While Tommy enjoyed travel, there were no places more precious to him than his home, and looking over the lake from his boat in Chattanooga or watching the sunset over the bay near Destin, Florida. But his heart was most obviously full when he was surrounded by family and faithful, “old friends.” Tommy attended East Ridge High School, University of Tennessee, and the University of Chattanooga (UTC). He met his beloved bride of 48 years in college, then served in the military before moving back to East Ridge to help his father expand the family business. He was successful in business steering A&M Toys and Hobbies into The Pool Place then founding the flourishing Artesian Spas in the early 90’s.

He was preceded in death by his Father Frank and his mother Pat (Muddie).

Tommy is survived by his wife, Peg, daughter Kelly (Scott) Orthner, son Frank (Nicole) May and daughter Katie (Nathan) Fincher along with 12 beautiful grandchildren: Luke , Meg , Elise, Thomas, Ani, Sophie, Kai, Eden, Bryce, River, Jake, and Maggie.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 3 PM with Dr. J. Render Caines officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 1 PM to 3 PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 8451 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421.

Peg,
I am so sorry to hear of Tommy's death. I just learned this today. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace from the Lord Jesus. Tommy, Ernie, and I were the original sponsors for the class of '73. We were first year teachers together. Good memories! Tommy was a very special man. I know the pain of losing a mate. My husband died 20 years ago from cancer. I do not know the circumstances of Tommy's death, but I do know the loss of your soulmate. PRAYING daily for you! Hugs!

Peg, my thoughts and prayers to you and the entire May family. There are never enough words or the right words to describe a person as wonderful, caring, and loving as Tommy May.
Our first trip together we were youngsters going across country with three other classmates, in a car pulling a travel trailer. What a great time we had. After that we were teammates on the East Ridge High School wrestling team. These two events were the best time of my young life. Tommy always had a smile on his face. He was a loving, caring, and giving friend. I will forever cherish our memories and times we shared. God bless you and the family.

Please accept my condolences and prayers for the passing of Mr. Tommy May. It has been and will continue to be my privilege to have known him and his family, and to work with May Manufacturing. Always a gentleman, kind, smart, and inspirational to me and I am certain many others, in many different ways. Just an awesome Family, too. God Bless the Mays.

Whenever you were greeted by Tommy it was like you were being greeting by Sunshine. He was always overflowing with joy despite his circumstances. He loved the Lord and that showed in his understanding and kindness to others and especially to me. I will miss him.

Remembering "Tommy's" family in prayer.
My memory flashed back to the kindergarten graduation picture at Jones Memorial Methodist Church with, Tommy, Kendra, Billy Keith Henry and many others, that we knew for 12 years and the decades since.
