

April Victoria Tarka, at the age of 68, passed away in Burton, Ohio on August 24, 2025. She was born a preemie on April 1, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles and Dolores (nee Barth) Schreibman. April was a graduate of Mayfield High School in 1975 and attended classes to become a licensed beautician. She worked as a beautician for years and enjoyed it very much. Later in life, she returned to school and earned her State Testing Nursing Aid (STNA) certification and worked at the University Hospital Geauga Medical Center and for the Sisters of Notre Dame for many years. She had a passion for all types of animals, particularly for the pets she and Michael enjoyed at home. Her favorite dog was Patches. She also enjoyed camping, reading, watching movies and listening to music.
April is preceded in death by her brother, Sampson Schreibman and her nephew, Chad Schreibman. April is survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael Tarka, her siblings: Pamela Arrietta (Joseph-deceased), Sandra Kulikowski, Shanon Slate, Dawn Schreibman, Tracy Schreibman (Debbie), brothers and sisters-in-law: Mathew Tarka (Bonnie), Larry Tarka (Barbara), Maryann Cassidy (Hugh), Rosann Schreibman; nieces and nephews: Chris Arrietta (Nora Race), Jason Herbert (Halle), Jay Arrietta (Sherri), Jody Roman (Chris), Brittnie Schreibman, Mathew Tarka (Kim), Aaron Tarka, Lawrence Tarka, Christopher Tarka (Katie), Mary Colleen Cassidy, Catherine Anne Cassidy, and many other loving family members and friends.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for Christian Burial for the repose of April’s soul will be offered at Saint Edward Catholic Church located at 16150 Center Street, Parkman, Ohio on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. April will be laid to rest at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, following the funeral service.
