

Bertha Johanna Hill, age 92, a homemaker, went to her eternal home on Aug. 26, 2010, at Olmsted Manor Care Center in North Olmsted. She was born June 24, 1918, in Cleveland, and lived in Chester Township since 1959. Bertha enjoyed playing the accordion, and being church organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Chardon. She was an avid cook and gardener. Bertha was the greatest joy to her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors are her daughters, Caroline Hill, Joanne (Richard) Helmink, and Judith Hill; grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) Diller, Richard (Amanda) Helmink, Julie (Kenneth) Zawadzki, and Ryan Helmink; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Jordan, Serena, Mikala, Logan, Ryan, Jr., Allison, Morgan, Connor, Xavier, Kari, and Kendra; and 102-year-old sister, Lydia Peter. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Hill; parents, John and Caroline Herder; and siblings, Wanda, Henry, Julius, William, Ernest, Olga, and Molly. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 30, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Please meet at the church. Pastor George Zehnder will officiate at services. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Chester Township Cemetery.
