Born December 11, 1954, in Cleveland, he was raised in Chesterland, living in the township for over 48 years total. Robert was a former resident of Hunting Valley, OH (10 years) and Newbury, OH (over 9 years total). A proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 18, Robert dedicated 47 years to his work as an excavator, heavy machinery operator, landscaper, and manager of stables and farm estates. His impressive work ethic and skills were valued at numerous companies over the years, including Bidgood Excavating, Cross Caven Farms, The Rankin Estate, Mr. Trench, Haueter Sand & Gravel, Kirtland Construction Co., Bellis Construction, DTR Landscaping, and VMI Concrete Solutions. He retired in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of reliability, craftsmanship, and pride in his trade. Beyond his professional life, Robert was a man who thrived in nature and found peace in the simpler pleasures. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and farming. A lifelong outdoorsman, he had a special place in his heart for raising and caring for hunting dogs. When he wasn’t outside, you could often find him enjoying westerns, cheering on his favorite sports teams, or relaxing to the sounds of country music and classic ’70s rock. Robert will also be remembered for being a hardworking, honest man who chose to not take advantage of others to get ahead. He is survived by his wife Linda Bidgood; son Dakota Bidgood; sister-in-law Denise Bidgood; and niece Dena Bidgood. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Larry and Lois Bidgood; and brother Dennis Bidgood. Family and friends may call at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland on Sunday 1 – 4 pm, where a Prayer Service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10:00 am.
