Bruno R. Plavney, 102, of Chester Township, passed away Sept. 1, 2013. Born June 21, 1911, in Tyler, Pa., Mr. Plavney was a member of the United Mine Workers (UMW), International Operating Engineers Union, Young of Heart and Geauga Seniors Center. Survivors are his children, Cedric R. (Eloise), Gail L. (Simeon) Pestich, James M. (Sue), Crystal A. (Russell J.) Butch and Mitchell C.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Deloris Olearczyk. Mr. Plavney was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Pearle N.; and son, Robert E. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Grounds in Chester Township.
