Darlys L. Vinch of Mentor, Ohio died Thursday August 8, 2019. She was born to the late Henry and Serena Huebner, August 8, 1934 in Westgate, Iowa. Darlys was a graduate of Fredricksburg High School and of Upper Iowa University where she earned a teaching degree. She married the late James M. Vinch in 1960 and they lived together in Mentor, Ohio since 1963. Darlys taught elementary school in Iowa and in Mentor. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor, Ohio where she also taught Sunday school. She loved to garden and was often to be found working in her flower beds and raising vegetables. She is survived by her two children James J. Vinch (Judi) of Woodbridge, Virginia and Dana A. Kind (Rev. David) of Blaine, Minnesota and her two adorable grandsons that were the love of her life — Andrew Kind and Adam Vinch, as well as by two sisters Hazel Schrandt and Dorie Wass. Visitation will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio at 9:00 am on Friday August 16, 2019 immediately followed by a funeral at 10:30 am and burial at Mentor Cemetery.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Dot, but heard many stories of her loving kindness and support of family and friends over the years through my sister, Gretchen Silbaugh. May Tara, Dorie, Dana, Jim and all their families experience God’s peace and comfort at this sad time.
