

Dave was a follower of Jesus Christ, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle who loved his family fiercely. He was an accomplished business executive and highly respected church leader. Dave raised his family to be grounded in faith and to love and care for each other as well as helping others. He was born in Covington, Virginia in 1932 and grew up in Cleveland and China Grove, North Carolina. Dave was a 1950 graduate of Glennville High School in Cleveland and studied Mechanical Engineering at Fenn College and Western Reserve University, and graduated from Cleveland Engineering Institute with a technical degree. He went to work at Erickson Tool Company in Solon, Ohio which later became Kennametal, as a Chief Draftsman, Chief Quality Inspector, and General Manager, and served for 39 years. During his career he was featured in Modern Machine Shop and N/C World Magazines numerous times, and was considered an industry expert in the area of Numeric Control Machine Tooling. He developed several patents for quick-change precision cutting tool inserts. Dave was also a worship leader and Bible teacher at the Calvary Assembly of God Church/Morning Star Friends Church in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, serving as an Administrative Pastor and Ministry Coordinator. Dave and Marie have most recently attended Willoughby Hills Friends Church. Dave was a family history enthusiast and created extensive family books on ancestry. He also loved sports of all kinds and all outside activities, including hiking, gardening, hockey, football, softball, ping pong and volleyball.
Dave is survived by the love of his life of 70 years Marie (née Bocchieri); children Kathi Barth (Russ), David L. Beaver III (Dorene), Donald Beaver, Douglas Beaver (Darleen), and Kristen Sanford (Mike); grandchildren Zack Barton (Alicia), Tiffany Halverstadt (Tim), Sarah Barth, and Mona Shoby (Michael), David L. Beaver IV (Brittany), Dana Naudain (Jared), Michelle Kibler (Jeremy), Mark Beaver (Sarah), Lauren Scarinzi (Kyle), Kelly Sanford (Deceased), and David Sanford; and 13 great-grandchildren who knew him as “Papa”. He was preceded in death by his parents Dave Beaver Sr. and Marie Beaver; siblings Cliff, Helen and Hazel; and several great grandbabies.
A private family service was held at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home earlier this week. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Dave’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fightcf.cff.org/goto/teamcoraforce to support Dave’s great-granddaughter Cora Kathleen Beaver and others with CF in the fight for a cure. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place later this summer with date and location to be announced.
