He was born April 8, 1948, in Cleveland.
David was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed visiting and vacationing at his family's farm in Burton. David was a self-taught mechanic and always appreciated mechanical projects. He enjoyed repairing all sorts of items including motorcycles. He also loved cooking and often spent time producing sausage with his family. David was compassionate about things from a previous era, and loved to watch classic black and white movies.
Mr Sustar retired five years ago as an Industrial Maintenance.
Survivors are his daughter, Kimberly (Kurt) Hoffmann; sons, Brett (fiancee, Janet Cohen) and Andrew; grandchildren, Emily and Hayden Hoffmann; and siblings Virginia (Dennis) Brent, Janis (Berndy) Heckelmann, Catherine (Timothy) Brent, Donald, Timothy (Judy), and Mark.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alois and Dorothy Sustar.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Rd., Newbury Township. Rev. Jay McPhillips will officate.Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
