Deborah Lynn Franey, age 65, of Mayfield Village, Ohio, died on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Debbie was born on May 2, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Janet (Gilespie) and William Hann. She was a 1979 graduate of Brush High School and attended Lakeland College, where she studied Early Childhood Education.
Debbie was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Play Pals Day Nursey for many years prior to her retirement. She loved the simple joys of life: a good cup of coffee; a sunny day- the real luxury in Northeast Ohio; the company of a beloved dachshund; a Marshall’s bargain; and a sweet treat. For the last eight years, Debbie fought cancer with remarkable strength. Throughout that journey, what mattered most became clear: her love for her family. That love was the center of her life, especially her sons, Jay and Josh; her sister Patty; and her granddaughter Coral. Though Jay (Jason Franey) preceded her in death, the love she carried for him remained constant.
Debbie is survived by her son, Joshua Franey, his wife, Ashley; and their daughter Coral all of Weeki Wachee, Florida; her sister, Patricia “Patty” Siegfried, and her husband Roger, of Novelty Ohio; and her brothers, Christopher Hann and his wife, Jennifer, and Bill Hann and his wife, Gina all of Novelty, Ohio.
We take comfort in imagining Debbie’s reunion was joyful with Jay; Mary, her favorite horse; Doozer, her companion dachshund; and all those who loved her and went before her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026. Share a fond memory or condolence at www.gattozziandson.com
