

Born Feb. 25, 1920, in Cleveland, she had been a resident of Chardon and Chester Township before moving to Tucson five years ago.
Dorothea was a former parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Chardon and St. Anselm Church in Chester Township, as well a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's Church and Young of Heart of St. Anselm Church. She enjoyed being a part of Bible studies with friends at both churches. Dorothea was a longtime member of the Holden Arboretum, and also enjoyed roller skating with friends in Mayfield Heights and in Lake County. After retirement, she and her late husband, Edward enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally. Dorothea was very proud of being a homemaker, being able to take care of her family and friends.
Survivors are her children, Norman (Cecilia) of Chardon, Roberta Newton of England, Mary Newton of Oregon, Janet Newton (Sarwat) Sedhom of California, John (Ann) of Pennsylvania, Christine Newton (Kini) Wade of Arizona, Francine Newton of California and Barbara Newton (Murphy) Kittrell of Arizona; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and brother, John (Carole) Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Ross; brother, Robert (Lee) Lucas; and sisters-in-law, Anita (Art) Kaufmann and Jeanie (Bruce) Foster.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Church of Saint Anselm, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery.
