Elaine M. Brookes

ELAINE M. (ELLIS) BROOKES, age 68, of Hunting Valley, passed away on Saturday, August 10, surrounded by her loving family. Elaine was born in Cleveland to the late Ted and Hallie (Herman) Ellis on December 23, 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, George S. Brookes. She is survived by her son, Chris (Rachel), grandchildren Luke, Mary and Lauren, sister Margaret Galloway, nephew John Peterson, aunt Rosalie Sirij and many cousins. Elaine worked as a teacher in the Columbus area for a number of years. After moving to Cleveland in 1983, she did volunteer work for the Cleveland Playhouse and the Women's Committee of the Cleveland Orchestra. She was an active member of Parkside Church in Solon, Ohio. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, family member and friend and will be greatly missed by all of them. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Parkside Church, 7100 Pettibone Rd., Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elaine's name may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
