Born Oct. 2, 1911, in Gates Mills, he had lived in Chester Township before moving to Munson Township five years ago.
He was a veteran U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
Flavian was a lifelong part his family's business, Chagrin Valley Nursery in Gates Mills.
Survivors are his children, Francis (Kitty), Jan (Kathy), Alan (Florence), Shawn (Gary) Schofield, and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Arlene, George, Gina, Lloyd, Vanessa and Chelsea; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-great grandson; brother, Carl; and sister, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (nee Niehoff); daughter, Amelia Mastrangelo; and brothers, Victor and Louis.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Conrad Selnick will officiate. Burial will be in Gates Mills South Cemetery.
