Frederick R. Dixon, 91, of Newbury Township died on June 6, 2015. WW II veteran of the USMC, he held B.A., M.A., and J.D. degrees from Case-Western Reserve University. He worked as a lawyer and later as a teacher, retiring as chairman of the social studies department at West Geauga High School. A true "Renaissance Man", he became a skilled painter, writer, and expert in classical music. He wrote notes for the Cleveland Orchestra program and was cited in publications as an expert on Gustav Mahler. He greatly enjoyed his wooded property and its wildlife for 55 years. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen; beloved children Frederick R. Dixon III (Tracey), David Stang (Joy) and Betsy Wisneski (Dan); and was loving grandfather to Anthony Dixon, Taylor Rice (Arthur), Hope Smith, and Jacob Stang. Honoring his wishes, there will be no service. Contributions to the Geauga County Dog Shelter, 12513 Merritt Rd., Chardon, Ohio, 44024.
