Born March 11, 1936 in Oakland, California he was a resident of Chesterland, OH since April 1976. Prior to that resided with his family in Euclid, OH since approximately 1962. George’s hobbies over the years included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and working around the house and property. He was very proud of his Military service, U.S. Army (Active Duty) and Army Reserves. After George’s stint in the military, he was employed by Champion Spark Plug Co. beginning in 1962. At Champion he was a sales representative responsible for a large portion of Northeast Ohio making calls on repair shops, auto dealerships and auto parts distributors/retailers. George retired from Champion in 1998. After retiring, he worked at a local Home Depot store for a number of years. Professionally, George really enjoyed meeting with people and closing the sale. He was a diehard Browns fan to the end but he was probably happiest when he was at home puttering around on some project or another. George is survived by his wife of 65 years Carol A. Owens (nee Borchert), son George F. Owens IV, daughters Lori A. Elmore, Caren G. Owens and Joann M. Tackla, grandson Michael O. Elmore, granddaughter Kelly M. Elmore and sister Tina Owens Hibbs. He was preceded in death by his parents George F. Owens II and Frances Owens (nee Edelen), and his daughter Dona M. Owens. There was a private service for the family 27 January 2024 after which he was laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, OH.
