

Harry J. Whalen, age 65, passed away Dec. 3, 2015 at his residence in Munson Twp. Harry was born July 11, 1950 in Plainfield, NJ., before residing in Munson Twp. for 5 years. Harry was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of St. Mary Church in Chardon, the St. Mary Church Knights of Columbus, Council #15942, and a graduate of Leadership Geauga. Harry enjoyed photography, cooking, and learning about and tasting wine. He also enjoyed traveling, genealogy, and sports. After retirement, Harry drove for Geauga Transit and volunteered at Geauga Medical Center. Harry worked in the environmental business in New Jersey, and with Waste Management in Ohio. Survivors are his wife, Marlene Napalo; son, Robbie; daughter, Kate (fiancé Derek Phelps) Whalen; former wife, Lynette (Joe) Taylor; brother, David (Cathi); sister, Jill (Sonny) Rau; mother-in-law, Rose Napalo; brother-in-law, David (Nancy) Napalo; and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ardell Whalen. Visitation Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd. Chester Twp. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon, OH 44024. Rev. Dan Redmond will officiate. Interment at a later date.
