Jack A. Lashley, 93, a resident of Newbury Township for 69 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Jack was a longtime parishioner of St. Helen Catholic Church, where he was an usher for 20 years and a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1812. Jack served in the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed many trips, with his wife Jean to Canada, fishing with many family members and friends. He also enjoyed casino trips to Las Vegas, the Bahamas, and many cruises. Jack loved fishing and trapping, he was very proud to be the oldest member of the Pekin Road Rod and Gun Club; he was also an avid golfer with the St. Helen Golf League and took several golfing trips, including Pipe Stem, WV with St. Helen’s league. Jack worked at Western Electric, Ohio Bell, and after 32 years retired from AT&T. After retirement, he worked for Newbury Township, where he maintained the four cemeteries for 20 years.
He is survived by his son, George (Susan) Lashley; daughters, Theresa Barkman, and Jackie (Bill) Svec; grandchildren Glorianne (Adam) Camburako, Elizabeth (Todd) Schauffler, and Billy Svec; great grandchildren Everett Camburko, Clara and Owen Shauffler; sister Georgene (Tom) Kostura; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Jean of 61 years, parents George and Lillian Lashley, and brother Kenneth Lashley. Visitation will be held at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home located at 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 3pm until 8pm. Prayers before Mass will take place at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 9am. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Helen Catholic Church located at 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury, Ohio 44065 on Friday, May 3, 2024. Burial will take place after Mass at Newbury Center Cemetery.
