        I hope you are well; I think often of our aquatic classes at Ursuline.  It was such a nice group and the exercise so helpful.  And the best part was getting to know you.

My condolences to the entire Katzenstein family.
Throughout my tenure at Shaker Schools, I had the privilege of working with Joe both as a teacher and a coach. Joe was a strong positive influence on my career. I appreciated his direct manner and his outstanding support. Joe Katzenstein's character was an example to all who knew him – hard-working, optimistic spirit, and a thoughtful, caring human being. 
Joe, you led by example, and you will be greatly missed; but for the people you touched, the meaningful life lessons you shared with us will endure for many years – thanks Joe. RIP.


My deepest condolences to the Katzenstein family. I was very blessed to have worked with Joe at SHHS. He was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Blessings to all.

Mr. Katzenstein was such a dynamic and fun teacher at Shaker! He was always smiling! He encouraged us to be our best, and pushed us to reach our goals. I have such fond memories of a wonderful role model who went above and beyond for students.  He was truly an asset to Shaker and the athletic programs of Shaker Heights City Schools. 

Bernadette, we are so sorry to hear the sad news.  Joe was a friend and guide, helping me to get started in teaching and coaching back at Woodbury in the '70's and 80's.  I have many fond memories of our time at Shaker, his great smile, fun loving demeanor, and positive attitude.  Peace to you.

Bernadette, Our prayers are with you and your entire family that God may comfort you.  Joe & I have been friends since the late 60's when I coached at Shaker & Joe volunteered to work the sideline phones  during games.  Joe was a trusted friend and was always there to offer help to everyone who needed it.
