Born and raised in New Florence, PA, John grew up working on his family’s farm, instilling in him a lifelong appreciation for hard work and resourcefulness. He carried those values into his career as a Certified Welder with the Boilermakers Union Local 744, where he worked proudly for 35 years. Known as a jack of all trades, John was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether at work, at church, or for friends and family in need.
A man of many talents, John had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing both the guitar and harmonica. He found peace fishing in the ocean and joy in spending time with his great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
John was an active and loyal member of Chester Christian Center in Chesterland, where he faithfully volunteered as an usher and helped in the hospitality room. A devoted Christian, he lived his life as Jesus taught—loving everyone he met and serving others with kindness, humility, and generosity.
John is survived by his wife Louella “Babe” (nee Quick); daughters Carolyn (David) Misosky and Brenda Palinkas; son Nicholas (Hannah); grandchildren Terrilyn (Marc, deceased) Wagner, Mark (Dina) Hakli, and Brooke Hakli; great-grandchildren Caleb Wagner, Alyssa Wagner, and Harrison Hakli; and siblings Barb (Dick) Slater, Julie Martin, and Richard (Diane) McCachren. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law Thomas Hakli; grandson Marc Wagner; and six siblings.
