John "Jack" Herbert Mental Jr.

John H. “Jack” Mental Jr., age 75, passed away on November 5th, 2022. He was a high school principal and football coach and is a member of the Newbury High School and Baldwin Wallace Athletics Hall of Fames. Jack almost made it to opening day as a Cleveland Browns player. He loved to cheer on the Browns, Indians, and Cavs, travelling, camping, the outdoors, and was always one to take the scenic route. Jack loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and enjoyed family get-togethers and pick-up basketball and backyard football games. Most of all he was so proud of all that his children have accomplished in life and the family that he and his wife Kathy created. He was preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Addie Mental; his sisters Barb and Geraldine; and brother-in-laws Mike and George. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Kathy; children John III (Andrea) and Jaclyn (Jeff); grandchildren Connor, Matthew, and Olivia; siblings Peggy, Tom (Laurie), and Mickey; brother-in-law Bill (Cindy) Kuhn; and many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland OH 44026 on Thursday November 10th, 2022 from 10am until 12 Noon, where Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon. Interment Newbury Center Cemetery, Newbury OH.
