Judith Margaret Schwed, age 87, died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. She was born on January 14, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Laura Charlotte (Stringer) and William E. Bebout, Jr. Judith was a 1957 graduate of West Geauga High School and a lifelong resident of Chesterland. She married Donald W. Schwed on June 13, 1959. Judith enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. If there was a meeting, you would find Judith! She attended zoning and township meetings and was known as the “Queen” and in charge. Judith volunteered and served as president of the Chesterland Historical Village for many years. She always seemed to be rescuing an animal, her last being, Tobey the cat.
Judith is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty years, Donald; and two brothers, Robert Bebout and William Bebout. Survivors include her daughter Laura L. Schwed-Koehler of Fort Myers, Florida; and her grandson, Corey (Amanda Kochman) Koehler of Mentor, Ohio.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio. Visitation will be held on September 4th from 5:00 PM until the time of services.
