Julius John Puleo

Julius John “Sonny” Puleo, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Carol Aileen "Basha" Puleo, age 89, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026. They were together nearly to the very end of their lives, passing independently just hours apart. Sonny was born on August 2, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Margaret (Bujnoczki) and August Puleo. He worked as a mechanic and laborer for the former AAA Pipe Cleaning Company of Cleveland. Sonny enjoyed woodworking and could fix anything. He loved his family, his pets, and local wildlife. Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Brenda M. Zeben, and his sister, Marian Anderson. Survivors include his children, Cheryl A. (Gary) Wilner of Twinsburg, Ohio, Michael J. (Lisa) Puleo of Brecksville, Ohio, Jane K. Puleo of Bedford Heights, Ohio, and Noreen E. (Christo) Lehmann of Valley View, Ohio; as well as grandchildren Omar, Aisha, Melisa, Michael, Christopher, and Collin; and four great-grandchildren.

Sonny married Carol Aileen “Basha” Feast on March 21, 1981. She was born on March 16, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Margaret (Bennish) and Herman Feast. As a model and dancer, Carole lived and performed in Hawaii and New York, learning the different styles of dancing, including belly dancing. Back in Ohio, Carole taught belly dancing lessons; she later worked in retail and volunteered her time at WomenSafe. Carole is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, David Feast. Survivors include Sonny’s family, as well as two nephews, Matthew, and Eric and sister-in-law, Patricia Feast.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 PM. Private burial will be held at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, in Chesterland.
