Jutta Ursula Manherz, age 96, died on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was born on June 29, 1930, in Breitenhain, Germany, the daughter of Hedwig (Hendriok) and Erich Wichter. In April of 1952, at the age of 21, Jutta immigrated to the United States with her husband and young son, to the city of Cleveland, where her husband Alois had family. Jutta loved being outdoors and enjoying gardening. At the age of forty, she learned how to downhill ski and got her driver's license. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and was quite the cook and baker. Jutta liked traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-one years, Alois Manherz; her sister, Helga Kerler; and two brothers, Werner Wichter and Klaus Wichter. Survivors include her two children, Peter J. (Linda) Manherz of Lynden, Washington, and Karen H. (John) Staral of Woodbury, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Christopher (Lilly) Staral, and Brian Manherz; three great-grandchildren, Brenna, Delaney and Keira; her brother, and caregiver, Hans Wichter of Kirtland, Ohio, and brother, Siegfried (Tamara) Wichter of Wiggensbach, Germany.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026. Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland.
