Born the eldest in her family, Mary Lou’s nurturing spirit emerged early in life as she instinctively stepped into the role of caregiver for her younger siblings. That compassion would define her life and guide her into a meaningful and impactful nursing career. After earning her RN from Mount St. Carmel School of Nursing in Columbus, she went on to serve in various roles, including with the Catholic Diocese at Ursuline College, Hamlet, the YMCA, and later, as a beloved school crossing guard in Solon following her retirement from nursing.
Mary Lou’s heart and hands were always busy — whether caring for patients, tending to her family, or expressing her creativity through baking and sewing. She made clothes and curtains with love and skill, and her home was often filled with the scent of something warm from the oven.
Mary Lou also found great joy in being outdoors, taking long walks that gave her peace and perspective. Most importantly, she was the proud and dedicated mother of two children, Becky and Tommy, to whom she devoted her life with unwavering love and support.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter Becky (Michael Gruse Jr.) Inwood; son Tommy (Summer) Inwood; grandchildren Michael Gruse III, and Paisley and Bristol Broach; siblings Joe (Wendy) Rosenbaum, Joyce Marince, Michael McKay, and Tim (Amy) Rosenbaum; nieces and nephews Joey, Melissa (Joe), Jessica (Nick), Michael, Justin, Macie, Peggi (Seth), Kevin, Brendan, Tim (Mickayla), Emily, and Grace (Rodney).
She is preceded in death by her parents Rosemary and William Rosenbaum; and brother-in-law Don Marince.
