Michael A. Jordanek

Michael A. Jordanek 101, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 1, 1917 in Cleveland a son of the late Michael S. and Mary (Slovinski) Jordanek. A former resident of Newbury and Sebring, FL, he had resided in Bonita Springs and Naples, FL for the past 5 years. He graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland in 1935 and proudly served his country during World War II from 1943 – 1946 in the U.S. Army. After returning home, he joined the Chase Brass and Copper Company where he worked as a machinist until his retirement in 1981. He and his late wife, Albie also owned and operated the Punderson Lake Grocery store from 1948 until 1961 when they sold the store. He was a former member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury and a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, FL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Geauga Council 3304 and a 4th Degree member of the Cardinal Newman Assembly 837 and a member of the Holy Name Society. He is survived by his son, Ronald M. Jordanek and his wife, Christine of Naples, FL and his daughter, Linda Chiappone of West Milton, OH; 5 grandchildren, Angela Morehead and her fiancé, Rob Koch, Christopher Jordanek, Melissa Jordanek, Nicholas Chiappone and his wife, Marcie, Samuel Chiappone and one great grandson, Anthony Jordanek. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Albina Jordanek who died on February 10, 2006; two brothers, Steven and Andrew Jordanek; one sister, Elsie Bohdal and his son-in-law, James Chiappone. Friends may call at GATTOZZI AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 12524 CHILLICOTHE RD. (RT. 306, N. OF MAYFIELD RD) CHESTERLAND ON FRIDAY 4 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Rd., Newbury. Burial with military honors will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark Cr. No., Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
